Lady Gaga is expected to perform at the Oscars on Sunday, following reports that she will not star in the new “Joker” movie due to her busy schedule. Gaga is nominated for best song for “Hold My Hand” from “Top Gun: Maverick,” and while it’s customary to perform the nominated songs, last week producers said she won’t.
The awards show’s producer, Glenn Weiss, explained during a press conference last week why Gaga couldn’t perform. “We have a great relationship with Lady Gaga and her camp,” he said, according to Entertainment Tonight. But since he is in the middle of filming, he didn’t feel he could “give a performance of the caliber he is used to”, he said.
However, Gaga appeared on the carpet just before the start of the awards show, and ET has confirmed that she will be performing. She walked the carpet part of the way with nominated song co-writer Bloodpop.

News of her surprise performance was first reported by Variety, and the host of E’s carpet coverage commented that Gaga was there to perform.
In January, Gaga celebrated her nomination by posting a photo of a large bouquet on Instagram. He said that writing the song alongside Bloodpop was “a profound and powerful experience that I will never forget.”
The singer and actress has been nominated for four Oscars. In 2019, she was nominated for Best Actress for “A Star Is Born” and won the Oscar for Best Song for “Shallow”. He was nominated for Best Original Song in 2016 for “Til It Happens to You” from the documentary “The Hunting Ground”.
