Manhunt for killer and second escape from Ohio prison

LIMA, Ohio — Authorities are searching for a convicted murderer and another inmate who escaped from an Ohio prison and are offering a reward of up to $21,000 for information leading to their arrest. They are warning that both should be considered dangerous and not to be approached but to call 911 immediately if seen.

Bradley Gillespie, 50, and James Lee, 47, were found missing Tuesday from the Allen/Oakwood Correctional Institution in Lima, according to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction and the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The agencies said Lee was missing during a late-morning inmate count and that a subsequent emergency count determined Gillespie was also missing. They added that the two were last seen on prison surveillance video early Monday morning.

Gillespie had been serving a murder sentence at the facility since 2016, and Lee had been there since 2021 for burglary and security cracking.

ODRC said it is also conducting an internal investigation.
