Woody Harrelson has confirmed that he wants to take a DNA test with Matthew McConaughey to see if he can. step brother. The “True Detective” costars have been friends for quite some time, but a few years ago, they learned they may have the same father.
McConaughey revealed last week on Kelly Ripa’s radio show, “Let’s Talk Off Camera,” that his mother mentioned years ago when they were all vacationing in Greece that she “knew” Harrelson’s father and noted that “it was a loaded KNU.”
Appearing on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” on Tuesday, Harrelson said “there is some truth,” to McConaughey’s belief that they could be brothers.
Harrelson agreed that when McConaughey’s mother said she “knew” her father, Charles Harrelson, it appeared that he had slept with her and that he might be McConaughey’s biological father. Harrelson even echoed McConaughey’s words that the sentence was “ellipse”, which he said he found “disturbing”.
Harrelson added that the break around “Know” is “filled with innuendo.”
“She was on leave from her relationship with (McConaughey’s) alleged father, Jim,” Harrelson said. “We want to do the (DNA) test, but it’s a big deal for him because he feels like he’s losing a father. But I’m like, ‘No, you’re gaining a different father and a brother.’
McConaughey said in her interview with Ripa, “It’s a little hard for me, because he’s asking me to take the opportunity to go, ‘Wait a minute, you’re telling me my dad might not be my 53-year-old dad,’ and believe it? I’m a little more in the game.” Got skin.”
Colbert then showed a photo of the two actors together, saying some people might think they look like half-brothers.

McConaughey said last week that he and Harrelson discussed the connection and realized that McConaughey’s parents were in West Texas around the same time Harrelson’s father was going through their second divorce. According to Entertainment Tonight, McConaughey’s parents have been married to each other three times and divorced twice.
Harrelson was raised by a single mother after her father, Charles Harrelson, was sentenced to life in prison for murdering a federal judge. Charles Harrelson died of a heart attack in a federal prison in 2007.
McConaughey, 53, grew up in Uvalde, Texas, while Harrelson, 61, was born just north in Midland, Texas, and later moved to Ohio.
The pair starred together on HBO’s “True Detective” in 2014, and their strong friendship inspired their new show, “Brother From Another Mother,” based on their connection.
