Appearing on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” on Tuesday, Harrelson said “there is some truth,” to McConaughey’s belief that they could be brothers.
Harrelson agreed that when McConaughey’s mother said she “knew” her father, Charles Harrelson, it appeared that he had slept with her and that he might be McConaughey’s biological father. Harrelson even echoed McConaughey’s words that the sentence was “ellipse”, which he said he found “disturbing”.
Harrelson added that the break around “Know” is “filled with innuendo.”

McConaughey said last week that he and Harrelson discussed the connection and realized that McConaughey’s parents were in West Texas around the same time Harrelson’s father was going through their second divorce. According to Entertainment Tonight, McConaughey’s parents have been married to each other three times and divorced twice.
Harrelson was raised by a single mother after her father, Charles Harrelson, was sentenced to life in prison for murdering a federal judge. Charles Harrelson died of a heart attack in a federal prison in 2007.
McConaughey, 53, grew up in Uvalde, Texas, while Harrelson, 61, was born just north in Midland, Texas, and later moved to Ohio.
The pair starred together on HBO’s “True Detective” in 2014, and their strong friendship inspired their new show, “Brother From Another Mother,” based on their connection.
