Through 2 Quarters

Fans are certainly getting their money’s worth as the Dallas Mavericks and the Utah Jazz have combined for 129 points two quarters in. Dallas has emerged as the frontrunner and is ahead of Utah 69-60.

Center Dwight Powell (15 points), small forward Davis Bertans (14 points), and point guard Luka Doncic (13 points) have been the top scorers for the Mavericks. A double-double would be Luka Doncic’s fourth in a row. Doncic does need to be careful, however, as he is in early foul trouble with three. Small forward Dorian Finney-Smith is also in foul trouble with three.

Utah has been led by shooting guard Donovan Mitchell, who so far has 16 points.

This is the first time Utah has been down going into the third quarter in the past seven games.

What to Know

After a few days’ rest for both teams, the Utah Jazz and the Dallas Mavericks will meet up at 9 p.m. ET Feb. 25 at Vivint Arena. Utah is out to keep their six-game home win streak alive.

The Jazz were within striking distance but couldn’t close the gap last week as they fell 106-101 to the Los Angeles Lakers. A silver lining for Utah was the play of shooting guard Donovan Mitchell, who shot 5-for-11 from downtown and finished with 37 points and five dimes.

Meanwhile, Dallas was able to grind out a solid victory over the New Orleans Pelicans last Thursday, winning 125-118. Dallas’ point guard Luka Doncic did his thing and shot 7-for-14 from beyond the arc and almost finished with a triple-double on 49 points, 15 rebounds, and eight assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which Doncic has had at least ten rebounds.

Utah is expected to win this handily, but they should have beaten the Houston Rockets Jan. 19 easily too and instead slipped up with a 116-111. In other words, don’t count the Mavericks out just yet.
