WHAT: City council meeting Monday

PRESENT: Reynold Paolone, Lily Martuccio, John Moliterno, Thomas Grumley, Mark Standohar, Keith Schubert, Sam Zirafi, and Mayor James Melfi

ABSENT: Jeff Kay

Council:

• Approved advertising for bids for the 2021 street resurfacing program this spring since they were not able to be paved last year because the companies were busy. Officials are bidding out the project earlier this year. Standohar said the $308,000 project includes paving sections of Avon, Park, Washington, High, Joan, Rush, Smithsonian, Wellman, Elruth, South Davis, Illinois, Juanita, Broadview, Belgrade, Shelby, Robinwood and Lasalle streets;

• Heard from Fran Wilson of Ella Street that school signs have been posted by Prospect School on one side of the street by school officials to let motorists know where students are dropped off and picked up;

• Heard from Martuccio the city is looking at getting a text-alert system for the public for emergencies, such as severe weather and snow bans;

• Approved legislation be prepared for the purchase of two dump trucks at $150,000 each for the street department and ultraviolet lights for the sewer department;

• Scheduled a finance meeting for 6:30 p.m. Feb. 28 before the next meeting.
