Thousands of Taliban supporters march outside Kabul

Nearly 1,000 Taliban supporters marched north of the Afghan capital, Kabul. The rally was held on Sunday morning at a field in Khodaman town on the outskirts of the capital. Supporters of the group have gathered in Kabul for the first time since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan.

Only men took part in today’s rally, the AFP news agency reported. There were also teenagers. However, no woman was seen. They have been attending the rally in Khodaman town since morning. At that time, they were seen playing songs on the occasion of the victory of the Taliban. Many supporters appeared at the rally with various posters. Many were again tied to the Taliban’s red-and-white band.

Taliban fighters marched before the main rally began. At that time they had flags and various weapons including guns and rocket launchers. Many Taliban members were guarding the scene with heavy weapons. Top Taliban leaders were also present at today’s rally. They addressed the supporters.

Meanwhile, women gathered in the eastern part of Kabul last Thursday to demand their rights. As before, Taliban members dispersed the rally. It has been alleged that empty shots were fired to stop the women at that time. According to reports, a foreign journalist was also attacked while filming the rally.

Since the fall of Kabul to the Taliban on August 15, women have been protesting in various parts of Afghanistan. The Taliban issued strict instructions to stop the protests. They said no assembly could be held without prior permission. They also threatened to take stern action if they did not comply. Due to all these, the women’s rights movement has come down a lot.
