Former New York City mayor and former President Donald Trump’s attorney Rudy Giuliani is being sued for $10 million in damages by a former employee alleging “sexual harassment and harassment, wage theft and other misconduct.”
The 70-page complaint was filed Monday in a New York court by Noel Dunphy, who Giuliani hired in January 2019 to work on business development for his firm, and makes sensitive allegations of sexual harassment.
“He made it clear that satisfying his sexual needs — which came virtually anytime, anywhere — was an absolute necessity for his job and his legal representation,” the complaint reads. It also says she demanded that “she work naked, in a bikini, or in short shorts with an American flag on her that he bought for her.”
In a statement published by the New York Daily News, a representative for Giuliani said he “vehemently and completely denies the accusations and plans to thoroughly defend against these allegations. This is pure harassment and an attempt at extortion.”
Dunphy alleged that Giuliani frequently took performance-enhancing drugs, exposed himself and said he “can’t do anything until you take care of it” while pointing to his genitals.
“He was constantly pressuring her, making sexual comments about her, about her, about himself. When they were supposed to be working, our client alleges, he would grope her and try to initiate sexual contact,” one of Dunphy’s attorneys said. , Justin Kelton, told CBS News New York.
“He alleged that on several occasions he objected, clearly, he did not honor those objections,” Kelton added.
Dunphy claims Giuliani often pressured her for oral sex, sometimes while on the phone with high-profile people — including former President Trump at one point. Giuliani told Dunphy that he “enjoyed engaging in this behavior while on the telephone because it made him ‘feel like Bill Clinton,'” according to the complaint.
Giuliani also promised Dunphy a $1 million salary, which he refused to pay. He said Giuliani was in the midst of a divorce when he hired him and told Dunphy that his salary “would be deferred and that his employment would be kept ‘secret’ until the divorce proceedings were concluded,” according to the complaint.
The complaint also alleges that Giuliani was frequently under the influence of alcohol.
“During this time, the work environment was regularly affected by Giuliani’s chronic drinking. Giuliani was rarely sober around Ms. Dunphy,” the complaint reads.
“Since he regularly drank throughout the day and night, it became part of Mrs. Dunphy’s responsibility to bring him alcohol and ensure that he was a “functional alcoholic.”
The complaint also states that while intoxicated, Giuliani “frequently made hostile comments that created and added to the hostile work environment that Ms. Dunphy was forced to endure” and that while Dunphy found the comments “rebellious,” a formal human being was lacking. . The resource office and “the control that Giuliani exerted over him as his boss and lawyer” made him feel as though little recourse was possible.
The complaint states that many of the comments were recorded and included racist, antisemitic, homophobic and fatphobic remarks.
The complaint alleges that in recorded statements to Dunphy, Giuliani called her several derogatory sexist slurs, said he couldn’t “control (himself)” with her and complained “I think of you as my daughter. Is that weird?” while engaging in sexual contact with Dunphy, according to the complaint.
CBS News reached out to Giuliani for a statement, but has not yet heard back. CBS News is awaiting further comment from Dunphy’s legal representation and will update accordingly.
