How To Unlock The Trickster Class

Vocations in Dragon’s Dogma 2 are greatly different from one another, but nowhere is this more apparent than the Trickster, an archetype you can unlock alongside the base classes. Tricksters are masters of illusion magic, fooling enemies with smokescreens produced by their unique Censer weapon. This class tends to avoid fighting directly as they strengthen their allies and confuse their opponents.

The Tricker’s gameplay revolves around using the Censer to create billowing smoke that distracts enemies and leads them into certain positions. While your Censer barely does any physical damage, the illusions it creates can be a great way to assist your friends or Pawn allies in Dragon’s Dogma 2. When paired with the Mage vocation, you and that class can often buff your party with various magic.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 is guaranteed to take you on a memorable and immersive adventure, but it’s liable to include a few hiccups along the way.

How To Get The Trickster Vocation In Dragon’s Dogma 2

The Trickster is considered an Advanced Vocation that you can only get when you either talk to the Trickster Maister NPC or complete a certain quest. Thankfully, this is one of the earliest classes you can unlock in the game, with the mission tied to it appearing early in your adventure. You won’t find the Maister for the Trickster in any of the vocation guilds, even if you search far and wide in civilized areas of Dragon’s Dogma 2’s map.

Those following the main story may come across the “In Dragon’s Wake” quest, which can be completed to unlock the Trickster vocation. This mission takes you to the region of Battahl, a large desert expanse that holds a lot of high-level enemies. You might want to take an Oxcart to reach this land since traveling to the area in Dragon’s Dogma 2 by foot could take almost 20 minutes of real-world time.

tied to the Trickster. At this early stage in the game, you can easily be defeated by strong enemies that reside in the region.

A side quest in this area asks you to escort an old man to a shrine out in the desert where you can also unlock the Trickster vocation. Parts of this mission could be difficult if your character and other allies in your party haven’t rested or are low on resources, so make sure to prepare for the journey. Delivering the man to the shrine while protecting him from many different threats will unlock the Trickster class.

Once you gain access to the archetype, you can create a brand-new character or switch your vocation to use the class’ skills properly. While you may have to replay many early parts of the game’s story, managing to unlock the Trickster vocation in Dragon’s Dogma 2 opens up a unique class’ playstyle that gives you a new approach to combat.
