Why Sebastian Stan Says Tom Holland Is Responsible For Falcon And The Winter Soldier Getting Made

During a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Sebastian Stan reflected on the history of his best roles, including his time in the MCU. While talking about “Captain America: Civil War,” he came to the humorous realization that Spider-Man actor Tom Holland may have inadvertently helped him and Anthony Mackie eventually get “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” show on Disney+.

“It was so weird and wild ’cause it was such a funny moment with sort of him catching the arm and the punch and everything,” Stan said of the fight scene in the movie, which saw Bucky and Sam Wilson (Mackie) teaming up against Spider-Man for his first fight in the MCU. “Basically, Anthony and I got a show because of Tom Holland, that’s what I’m realizing as I’m talking. Which is something I’d really hate for him to know. Tom, that is. Not Anthony.”

The scene was a big moment in the MCU, not only because it gave fans a glimpse of what Holland’s take on the Spider-Man character would look like, but it also showcased Bucky and Wilson’s chemistry as an unwilling team. This would, of course, lead to their leading roles in “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” and eventually a greenlit “Captain America 4” for Wilson (per Variety).
