WARREN — John Shannon Hightower, 73, died Monday, Feb. 14, 2022, at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, following extended illness.
He was born Feb. 13, 1949, in Youngstown, the son of Raymond and Irene Shannon Hightower.
He was employed as a machine operator at Denman Tire Company and also at Youngstown Sheet and Tube.
He was a member of the Mount Zion Baptist Church and was a veteran, serving in the Marines during the Vietnam conflict.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Anthony Hightower of Warren; sons, Jawaun Hightower of San Diego, Calif, Juisone Hightower of Atlanta, Ga. and Jamar Hightower of Charleston, S.C.; daughters, Marshawn Olaniyan of San Diego, Charmina Hightower of Atlanta, Renee Hightower of Baltimore, Md., Johnna Hightower of Youngstown and Azaria Hightower of Warren; brothers, Raymond Hightower and Anthony Hightower, both of Youngstown; one sister, Norma Jean Drummond of Youngstown; and 14 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother.
Funeral services will be at noon, with calling hours 11 a.m. to noon Thursday, at the Mount Zion Baptist Church, Youngstown, where masks are required and social distancing upheld. Burial will be in Tod Homestead Cemetery.
Arrangements were by the Sterling-McCullough Williams Funeral Home.
