Lakeview students join YSU Concert Band

About 90 Lakeview High School students will perform with the Youngstown State University Concert Band on Monday at Stambaugh Auditorium.

The Lakeview Concert Band will open the concert with music by Saucedo, Rodgers, Nishimura, and a composition by Dana alumnus Mike Kamuf. Music by Standridge, O’Loughlin and Barnes will then be performed by the Lakeview Symphonic Band. Both ensembles are directed by Dana alumnus Nathan Sensabaugh.

Concluding the concert will be the YSU Concert Band performing “Fanfare Mother Earth,” by David Maslanka; “English Folk Song Suite,” by Ralph Vaughan Williams; “Grace Before Sleep,” by Susan LaBarr; “Rhapsodic Celebration,” by Robert Sheldon; and “Circus Days,” by Karl King.

According to YSU Concert Band Conductor Kate Ferguson, “We are thrilled to be welcoming the Lakeview High School bands to perform in this joint concert. Sharing our space, music, and experiences with the high school students and teachers is an important part of community engagement. Additionally, this partnered concert allows all of the students involved to learn from and appreciate each other’s musical contribution.”

The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. at Stambaugh, 1000 Fifth Ave., Youngstown. Tickets are $8 for adults, $7 for students and senior citizens and free for YSU students, faculty and staff. Tickets are available online at stambaughauditorium.com and by calling 330-259-0555.
