Many Everton supporters may have been expecting Vitor Pereira to take up the role of Toffees boss for some time, but it seems as if Farhad Moshiri is now interested in bringing Frank Lampard to Goodison Park. This was after Vitor Pereira pulled out of contention for the role.

It seems as if Periera’s philosophy of football and tactics did not go well with many Toffees supporters, hence the decision to pull out of the race is fully justified.

Now the club is eyeing the possibility of having the Blues legend in the manager’s hot seat at Goodison Park.

Style of Play

Should the 43-year old be appointed, he usually likes to operate with a 4-3-3 system, where he likes a greater presence in midfield, to build attacks, as was the case with Chelsea, where the presence of Mateo Kovacic and N’Golo Kante in midfield, allowed the likes of Mason Mount and Christian Pulisic more freedom to move forward and get more creative in midfield.

If you look at Everton’s midfield, you would say that there is enough talent in there to score and create opportunities for goals, with the likes Andros Townsend, Tom Davies, and Allan in the frontier. Playing in a 4-3-3 may just allow them a bit of freedom to express themselves in midfield

Another aspect that Lampard is good at, is making use of the academy players. If you look at the likes of Reece James, Mason Mount, and Tammy Abraham, he transformed them into top-class players, who are now playing in elite competitions such as the Champions League.

The key for Everton is to give him time, which he failed to get at Chelsea, due to their strict policy over Transfer Windows and poor results against the big six clubs.

if you look at Mikel Arteta and Arsenal, even though the Gunners are a long way off where they used to be under Arsene Wenger in his prime, the club has continued to back him, and now they still are in contention of a top-four finish. They even won the FA Cup when Arteta took over from Unai Emre in December 2019.

Aston Villa is already starting to show signs of improvement under Gerrard with six wins from ten games.

So, should the former Chelsea player and manager arrive at Goodison Park, who knows where he might take the club?

Moshiri To Finaly Take Fan’s Advice

When the Japanese announced that Pereira was the first choice to take over from Benitez, it did not go well with the Toffees fans, hence they urged Moshiri to pick a man who likes playing more on the front foot in terms of tactics, and Lampard fits the bill.

There was no doubt that replacing Carlo Ancelotti with Rafaf Benitez proved to be a shambolic decision in the end, particularly for Evertonians, but who knows whether they will get it right this time?

With the Toffees languishing in 16th and just two points above the relegation zone, whoever takes over will need to get the team back to winning ways as soon as possible.

With Brentford and Newcastle being the next to opponents after the mid-season break, surely this is an opportunity for whoever takes over to get some points on the board.

There is also the option of making Duncan Ferguson’s job as Caretaker Boss permanent.

The decision is expected to be made on Friday.
