One man in custody after shooting, standoff


BROOKFIELD — One man is in custody after a Tuesday afternoon standoff / shooting reported in the 600 block of South Stateline Road SE.

Police departments from Brookfield and Sharon, Pa., responded to the call shortly after 1:30 p.m. after five “very loud” gunshots were heard, a Trumbull County 911 report states, noting that two homes may have been involved in the incident.

A caller told dispatchers a suspicious black car was seen parked on the Sharon side of the road and then went southbound. The caller said people were in front of a small blue home before the car took off.

Sharon police officers, who took over the investigation, found shell casings on the Pennsylvania side of the roadway, the report states.

Police were looking for man in his 20s wearing all black with a firearm possibly in his waistband who was walking down an alley heading toward Irvine Avenue near downtown Sharon.

A report from Sharon police later stated a man was in custody, but no further information was available.
