Robert E. Herlinger 1927-2022



MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Robert E. Herlinger, 94, of Surfside Beach, S.C., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2022, at the Grand Strand Medical Center after a short illness.

Bob was born Dec. 9, 1927, in Warren, to Frank A. and Mae S. George Herlinger.

Graduating from Warren G. Harding High School in January 1947, Mr. Herlinger went into the heating and sheet metal trade. Working for Hampson Heating and Woodward Co., Bob then retired from A.B. Cole Co.

In 1948, Bob married Shirley Might (deceased 2004) and they had one daughter, Terry Sue.

Bob sang baritone in the Warren Men’s Barbershop Chorus and several quartets until his move to Myrtle Beach, S.C., where he liked to golf and worked at several golf courses. He also was a member of the Moose and Elks clubs.

In 1991, Bob married Delphine Shakley. They both retired and moved to Myrtle Beach, loving life together until her passing in 2012.

Bob had been a member of Surfside United Methodist Church and Grace E.U.B. Church, Warren, where Bob and Shirley had been active members in the 1950s and 1960s.

Bob will be sadly missed by his daughter and son-in-law, Terry Sue and David Bayowski.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Harold.

Burial will take place at Crown Hill Burial Park, Vienna.
