Snater Takes 6 Wickets To Put Essex In Dominant Position

Shane Snater took 6 wickets for Essex on the first day of the Division section of the County Championship season while centuries from Chris Benjamin and Adam Hose saw Warwickshire in control of their game at Old Trafford against Lancashire.

All teams will play 4 games in this phase against the four sides that were not part of their earlier group with 50% of the points between the two games against the other team from the first group stage being carried through.

The Division 2 game between Durham and Surrey was canceled due to Covid-19.

Hampshire vs Yorkshire (Division 1)

Hampshire won the toss and elected to field first.

Adam Lyth would be LBW to Kyle Abbott (pictured below) for 6 before fellow opener George Hill would fall the same way to the same bowler for 31. Tom Kohler-Cadmore would be caught behind by Lewis McManus to give Abbott his third wicket of the innings for 20 before Harry Brook would be bowled by Brad Wheal for 13.

Gary Ballance would be caught by Joe Weatherley off the bowling of Liam Dawson for 42 before Harry Duke would be the last wicket to fall, caught by the same fielder off the bowling of Wheal, for 12 with Dom Bess and Jordan Thompson resuming 45 and 15 not out respectively.

Warwickshire would win the toss and elect to bat field.

Rob Yates would be caught by Rob Jones off the bowling of Tom Bailey before Dom Sibley would fall LBW to the same bowler for 3. Chris Benjamin (pictured below) and Sam Hain would put on 237 for the third-wicket partnership before the former would be the final wicket to fall on Day 1, caught by Dane Vilas off the bowling of Saqib Mahmood for 127 – Hain and captain Will Rhodes will resume on 113 and 5 not out respectively.
