Youngstown Playhouse will have auditions March 7 and 8 for its upcoming production of the Disney musical “Hunchback of Notre Dame.”
Based on the novel by Victor Hugo, “Hunchback” features a score by Alan Menken (“Beauty and the Beast,” “Aladdin”) and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz (“Wicked,” “Pippin”). The Playhouse production will be directed by Trevail Maurice Smith with Mazhorell Johnson as music director and Kiara Jones as choreographer.
Auditions are open to actors ages 18 and older, who should be prepared to learn and execute a dance routine. Actors should prepare two contrasting traditional musical theater songs. Those auditioning should have a 16-bar cutting of their vocal selections but be prepared to perform the full song if requested.
In-person auditions will be held 7 to 10 p.m. March 7 and 8 at the Adler Art Academy at DeYor Performing Arts Center, 260 W. Federal St., Youngstown. Callbacks will be 7 to 10 p.m. March 9.
“Hunchback of Notre Dame” will open May 27 and run for two weekends.
