Bell-Drummond & Cox Star As Spitfires Win Blast

Daniel Bell-Drummond and Jordan Cox would both score fifties for Kent as they won their second T20 Blast trophy at Edgbaston yesterday.

Somerset won the toss and elected to field first.

Toby Albert would be caught behind by Tom Banton off the bowling of Josh Davey for 5 before James Vince would be caught by the same fielder off the bowling of Craig Overton for 2. Tom Prest would be bowled by Davey for a golden duck before Liam Dawson would be bowled by Ben Green for 18.

Lewis McManus would be caught by Banton off the bowling of Lewis Goldsworthy for 4 before James Fuller was run out by Roelof van der Merwe for 22. Chris Wood would be bowled by Davey for 18 before Scott Currie would suffer the same fate a couple of balls later without scoring. Joe Weatherley (pictured below) would be caught by Tom Abell off the bowling of Marchant de Lange off the penultimate ball for 71 off 50 balls before Brad Wheal was run out off the final ball by Tom Lammonby without facing a ball – Mason Crane would be 3 not out.

Banton would be caught by Prest off the bowling of Wheal for 6 before van der Merwe would be caught by Vince off the bowling of Currie for 2. Will Smeed would be caught by the same fielder off the bowling of Wood for 15 before Goldsworthy would be run out by Fuller for 3.

Lammonby would be LBW to Crane for a golden duck (his side sitting at 34/5 after 6.5 overs at this point) before Lewis Gregory would be bowled by Dawson for 18. Tom Abell would be caught by Fuller off the bowling of Currie for 50 off 35 balls before Green would be caught by Prest off the bowling of Wood for 35 off 18 balls – Craig Overton and Davey (both 11 not out) saw their team home with 2 balls to spare.

Kent Spitfires would win the toss and elect to bat first.

Zak Crawley would be bowled by George Garton for 9 before Joe Denly would be caught by Chris Jordan off the same bowler for 3. Sam Billings would be bowled by Ravi Bopara for 14 before Jack Leaning would be bowled by Tymal Mills without scoring.

Jordan Cox would be caught behind by Phil Salt off the same bowler for a golden duck (as the Spitfires went from 93/2 to 94/5 in the space of 5 deliveries) before Daniel Bell-Drummond (pictured below) would be caught by Bopara off the bowling of Jordan for 82 off 51 balls. Grant Stewart would be caught by Salt off the bowling of Mills for 3 before Qais Ahmad would be the final wicket to fall, run out by Salt, for 2 – Darren Stevens (47 off 28 balls) and Matt Milnes (0) the not out batsmen.

Salt would be caught behind by Billings off the bowling of Fred Klaassen for 9 before Luke Wright would be bowled by Milnes for 10. Delray Rawlins would be caught by Leaning off the bowling of Klaassen for 2 before David Wiese would be bowled by Stevens for 3.

Ravi Bopara would be caught by Billings off the bowling of Ahmad for 22 before Harrison Ward would be caught by Bell-Drummond off the bowling of Leaning for 21. Bell-Drummond would be caught by Smeed off the bowling of van der Merwe for 18 before Denly would be caught by Abell off the same bowler the following ball for a golden duck. Billings would be caught by Gregory off van der Merwe’s bowling for 2 before Crawley would be caught by Lammonby off the bowling of Goldsworthy for 41 off 33 balls.

Leaning would be caught by Green off the bowling of Davey for 27 before two run outs were the final two wickets to fall, firstly Stevens run out by Overton for 12 then Stewart run out by Davey for 2 – Cox (pictured below, 58 off 28 balls) and Ahmad were the not out batsmen.

Banton would be stumped by Billings off the bowling of Denly without scoring before Goldsworthy would be caught by Bell-Drummond off the bowling of Klaassen for 3. Abell would be caught by Klaassen off the bowling of Ahmad for 26 before Smeed would be caught by Cox off the bowling of Denly for 43 off 32 balls.
