WHAT: Village council meeting Wednesday

PRESENT: Michael Serotko, John Baryak, Tesa Spletzer, Chris Granchie, Julie Stimpert and Mayor Ken Kline

Council:

• Heard from Spletzer officials will meet next week with a businessman interested in the former Pamida Store building;

• Heard from attorney Kristofer Immel that the discrimination complaint with the village’s civil service commission filed by former police Chief Gene Fixler was dismissed. Fixler was fired by council in January;

• Accepted a $2,700 Northeast Ohio Public Energy Council (NOPEC) community grant;

• Gave first reading to adding a section on dog parks and animal services to the village’s zoning regulations. Granchie said plans are to consider a dog park in the village park;

• Recognized Newton Falls Little Tigers football players, coaches and cheerleaders on a successful undefeated season. The team is for youth ages 9 to 12;

• Heard from Granchie, who is donating his council salary to help Montgomery Farms.
